Being honest is an advantage if you’re a lawyer.

We need to come clean about a few things:

• we don’t always return phone calls as quickly as we should-if you want perfection stop reading now
• we don’t phone or e-mail you unless we need to- you’ll notice this when a lot less telephone calls and e-mails appear on your bill
• we’re not always in the office-we often appear personally in Court on your behalf-you’ll appreciate this when your bill does not contain barrister’s fees
• most conferences only involve one lawyer-we can’t afford another three lawyers to be present during your conference-and neither can you
• we don’t subscribe to the theory that only barristers can appear in court-we know the file and the client much better than they do so why duplicate expense?
